NOIDA:
UP Power Transmission Corporation Limited (
UPPTCL) has finally activated the Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) located at sector 148 of Noida, which will supply power to the 29.9 km
Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Metro line.
The power was activated on Thursday March 1, following safety clearances from Electrical Safety Department of Uttar Pradesh. As per Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) officials Oscillation trials for the Metro corridor are set to begin soon.
At the RSS, incoming power supply at 132 kV voltage level will be taken from grid substation of UPPTCL, and will be stepped down to 25 kV for traction (train operation) purpose and 33 kV for power to feed station loads, like lighting, air-conditioning, lifts, escalators, etc. The 21 stations along the corridor will also be powered by 10 megawatt solar energy generated by roof-top solar panels.
Speaking to TOI, P.D Upadhyay, Executive Director NMRC, who also holds post of General Manager (Finance) of the Metro Company confirmed that the RSS was ready to supply power to the Aqua line.
He further said that they have now invited senior officials from the
Ministry of Railways to carry out an inspection of the track before the launch the Oscillation trials. “We have written to Lucknow-based, Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO)—a Ministry of Railways organization that tests technical aspects of new railway projects—to dispatch their teams.
We have also invited Electrical Inspector General (EIG) to Government of India to come for inspection before we launch the next set of trials for the Aqua line.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) nominated officer act as EIG,” Upadhyay explained.
