B. Sushil Kumar, a commando attached to Greyhounds, an anti-Naxal force of Telangana, who was killed in an encounter with Maoists on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border on Friday, was bid a tearful farewell by family members, friends, and officers, in addition to thousands of people, on Saturday.
The slain officer is survived by his mother, father, wife and a 3-year-old daughter.
The last rites were performed as per Christian rituals at the burial ground in front of Saint Paul Methodius Church at his native place Mangalpete in Bidar district. The funeral was conducted with full State honours in the presence of representatives from Telangana and Karnataka police officers.
The family members and friends of the slain cop were inconsolable when the body arrived at his residence at Grace Colony in Bidar. Bidar MP Bhagwanth Khuba, Telangana Director General of Police (in-charge) M. Mahendar Reddy, Bidar Superintendent of Police Devaraju D. and other officers were present.
