A new alliance without Congress and BJP will emerge soon, probably before the next general election, says Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao giving fillip to talk of a third alternative to Congress and BJP.

KCR also offered to play a role in national politics, if people wished so.

"It won't be a mere third Front, it will be the main Front," the 65-year-old leader said speaking to media at his official residence here on Saturday. "There is an urgent need for a qualitative change in Indian politics as the two national parties which ruled the country for seven decades have failed," said KCR. Significantly, KCR did not rule out alliance with Telugu Desam Party. When asked for his reaction to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu's hint of an alliance with TRS in Telangana, he said, "I cannot say. I am not a foreteller."

Third alternative

KCR's talk of an alternative to both BJP and Congress stems from efforts in the South for forging a third alternative. Kamal Hassan is already in touch with Chandrababu Naidu, who he considers an inspiration. Naidu's Telugu Desam Party has been showing signs of parting ways with the BJP on grounds of hurting the people of Andhra Pradesh by giving a raw deal to the bifurcated state in the recent Union budget.

In a media interaction, KCR categorically denied BJP's charge that he had used foul language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his public meetings at Adilabad and Karimnagar recently. He said he has a good rapport with the Prime Minister and the BJP leaders were trying to colour his colloquial expressions as a personal attack.
