Minister offers to provide ₹5 lakh every year to 12 scholars

The South India Vedic conference began in a grand manner at the sprawling campus of the TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University at Alipiri here on Friday. The conference, which is also the Vedic students’ festival, is jointly conducted by the varsity and Maharshi Sandipani Veda Vidya Pratishtan of Ujjain.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development Satya Pal Singh, who formally inaugurated the event, went around the exhibition conducted on the occasion. Mr. Singh watched the various models of ‘Yagasalas’ and ‘Homakunds’ used in performing religious rites, the numerous tools used since ages and learnt the science behind choosing each one of them for a specific ritual.

Yoga demonstration

Mr. Singh watched a Yoga demonstration by the students and offered to provide ₹5 lakh every year to 12 Vedic pundits excelling in the field as a token of encouragement and appreciation.

Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha Vice-Chancellor V. Muralidhara Sharma said that the Vedic students should also study Sanskrit and Science.
