Reduce cost of power: NTPC CMD

NTPC chairman and managing director Gurdeep Singh has called upon officials of the corporation to strive to ensure that power cost is under control and affordable, and minimise the maintenance cost while enhancing the skills of employees.

The C&MD, while reviewing the performance of NTPC Ramagundam and the upcoming Telangana super thermal power station at NTPC Ramagundam on Saturday, stressed the need to lead for integration between thermal power and renewable energy besides exploring new avenues, while adhering to stringent environment and safety norms. Explaining the company’s shift towards giving importance to environment practices, he said that “chimney should not tell which unit is running”.

Interacting with senior executives, he said team Ramagundam was doing a commendable job and maintaining its overall excellence, despite being an ageing power station. Speaking on the Telangana power project, the CMD stressed concerted efforts and greater coordination with allied agencies to commission the units well before schedule.

Earlier, accompanied by RED-South K R C Murty, ED-Ramagundam D K Dubey, and GM (Project) M N Prasad, the CMD visited prominent sites of the Telangana Project Phase-I (2 x 800 MW) and inspected the progress. Later, he interacted with office-bearers of trade unions and and associations.
