FG got off to a winning start, with S Kishore securing a 156, 9-15, 15-14 victory against R Manikandan in the men’s singles match. It then managed to take a 2-0 lead, after its junior doubles team of Vikash Prabhu and Arun Sreevatsan came from behind to defeat Arun Karthick/DM Manoj 11-15, 1512, 15-8. 

Varshini VS pulled things back for JD, coming up trumps against Akshaya Arumugam with a 15-11, 15-9 scoreline in a match which lasted for 20 minutes. But, FG wrapped up the tie as E Mohanraj/ R Bhuvanesh got the better of R Arjun Krishnan/ B Danush Kumar in a nail-biting men’s doubles match. 

The FG pair won it 12-15, 15-9, 15-14. Mixed doubles duo of Poornima Cheruku/ Velavan eased past Anees Kowsar/ Chandramouleeswar, notching up an easy 15-5, 15-10 win in the last match of the one-sided tie.
