PANAJI: Around 250 enrolment cards have been issued under the Central Government Health Services (CGHS) Wellness Scheme, and 10 to 15 persons are found to visit the CGHS Wellness Centre located at the All India Radio Quarters, Bambolim everyday to seek treatment.
The chief medical officer Dr Prashant Borker said that the patients are turning up for consulting the allopathic and ayurvedic doctors available at the OPDs, which are operational on all working days at the centre. The patients are also given free medicines at the centre.
Dr Borker further said that the patients are also referred to private hospitals as per the requirement of treatment, and the amount paid to the hospitals are reimbursed from their respective departments. The reimbursement of charges towards the medical facilities availed elsewhere by the pensioners is done through the wellness centre itself.
The centre was inaugurated a month back. The authorities are expecting a better response the scheme beneficiaries once the centre empanels private hospitals for diagnostic and different medical procedures.
Approximately 3,000 serving employees and 1,500 central government pensioners besides their dependent family members, numbering around 12,000, are entitled to receive benefits under the scheme in the state.
Dr Borker said that the scheme has been extended to the central government employees, and pensioners drawing pension from central civil estimates and their dependent family members. The scheme has also been extended to the sitting and ex-members of Parliament, ex-governors, and lieutenant governors, freedom fighters, and ex-vice presidents. Sitting and retired judges of Supreme Court and retired judges of the High Court and railways board employees can also avail of the scheme.
