Nagaland is all set to have a new government in place as the Nationalist Democratic People's Party (NDPP)-BJP alliance have emerged as the single largest pre-poll coalition. Till the last reports, the NDPP-BJP alliance was just short of majority mark of 31.

The NDPP-BJP alliance was leading at or had won 30 seats while the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) was ahead at 22 places. The NPF had 45 seats in the outgoing Nagaland Assembly.

Chief Minister TR Zeliang is expected to retain his Peren seat while his challenger Neiphiu Rio won his Northern Angami II seat uncontested. The BJP has emerged as a net gainer.
