Forest Department offers three eco-tourism packages

Telangana Forest department has announced three special packages in all in the Jayashankar Bhupalapally district as part of the government’s ‘Eco-Tourism’ initiative.

The three packages, named as -- Eturunagaram Wild Life Sanctuary Tour, Laknavaram Festival, and Pandavula Guhalu -- will give the tourists a peek into the richness of forests in Telangana, a statement from the department said.

This is the first ever instance when eco-tourism in forest reserves is offered in packages, an official from the department informed.

The Eturunagaram Wild Life Sanctuary Tour offers night stay in Tadvai huts, cycling inside the forest, visit to environment education centre, visits to pre-historic megalithic burial sites (Dolmens), Blackberry Island, and Kondeti view point. At ₹2,000, it is offered as 24-hour package, every day throughout the year, and includes food and guide.

The Laknavaram Festival, also costing ₹2,000, offers cycling inside the forests of Laknavaram, night camping in the tents with bonfire, boating, island visit, trekking inside the forest, lake view safari, and bullock cart ride. Conducted every Saturday from 4 p.m. to Sunday 4 p.m., it includes dinner, breakfast, and lunch.

The tour to Pandavula Guhalu (Pandavas’ caves) has offers for rock climber enthusiasts, along with rappelling, bouldering and trekking. Priced at ₹500, it is offered on every Saturday and Sunday, inclusive of lunch.
