Houses of two loyalists of sidelined AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran here came under petrol bomb attacks today, prompting their supporters to picket the local police station in protest and demanding action against the culprits, police said. Police said they have registered cases against four persons and arrested one of them in connection with the early morning attack on the houses of secretaries of Dhinakaran faction youth Wing and Literary wing Kamal and Thava Munisamy respectively. Dhinakaran supporters alleged that associates of Minister M Manikandan were behind the attack and accused him of instigating them. Police said they were studying the CCTV footage obtained from near the houses that came under attack.
The incident caused slight damage to the portions of the houses. Rejecting charges against him, Manikandan told reporters that he had only said that only AIADMK workers should alone wear dhotis with borders in the party's flag colour. It was not proper for those who had left the party to use the party flag or dhoti. He claimed that they were blaming him for the attack to with the aim of disturbing a placement camp being organised by him here.
