People have rejected negative and disruptive politics: PM Narendra Modi on assembly election results

NEW DELHI: Following BJP's triumphant performance in Tripura, where it uprooted the 25-year-old Left government, and Nagaland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today's elections results are a rejection of the "negative, disruptive and disconnected politics".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a series of tweets on the outcome of assembly polls in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya+ , said that today's results are a verdict on party's agenda of 'good governance' and central government's "Act East Policy".


Attributing the election results to people’s faith in BJP’s “positive” and “development oriented agenda”, the PM said that the northeast has rejected the “negative and disruptive” ideology pursued by other political parties.


On the results in Tripura, where BJP dethroned the 25-year-old rule+ of the Left, the PM also said that the result will mark a turning point in the history of the state.


The Prime Minister also thanked the workers of his party and said that their hard work has been instrumental in party's success. At the time of writing this report, BJP was ahead on 43 seats, while Left was ahead on 16 seats in the 60-seat assembly.


The Prime Minister termed the Tripura results a victory of democracy in the face of "brute force and intimidation".

"Today peace and non-violence has prevailed over fear," the PM said.


The Prime Minister also thanked the people of Nagaland, where trends have indicated that BJP is all set to secure the requisite 31 seats to form a government, and assured them that he would continue to work towards their development and progress.



On the results in Meghalaya, where BJP is in alliance with Nationalistic Democratic Progressive Party, PM Modi reiterated his support to the people and applauded the hard work of his party workers.
