A. Mayakannan 26 of Sikandar Chavadi, an accomplice of two notorious history-sheeters who were killed by the city police in an encounter in Madurai on Thursday, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court I here on Saturday.
The police said the encounter of M. Saguni Karthik and I. Muthuirulandi took place at the house of Mayakannan at Sikandar Chavadi under Alanganallur police station limits.
Mayakannan, fled the spot at the time of the incident on seeing the police team.
Even as the police were on the lookout for the absconding accused, he surrendered before the court on Saturday evening.
The magistrate Mumtaz ordered his judicial custody till March 5.
