The outburst of former Minister Ravela Kishore Babu against senior leaders of the party that a well-oiled network of local leaders and the police has minted close to ₹100 crore from illegal mining, after inspecting a mine at Obulunaiduvaripalem, has created a flutter in TDP circles.
Dhulipalla Narendra, a five-time MLA from Ponnur, too found himself cornered over rampant sand mining on the banks of River Krishna and he was warned by the Chief Minister for abetting mining from a dry tank near Chebrolu.
Mr. Kishore Babu had even said neither Minister for Civil Supplies P. Pulla Rao nor the Collector had taken action against rampant mining in Potturu village. His ire is seen to be directed towards an AMC Chairman, whose family has allegedly bagged the licence for mining but has been encroaching the other sites too.
Differences over sharing income from mining activity had plagued the Congress too. Former Minister D.M Vara Prasada Rao and former ZP chairperson K. Vijaya had serious differences and at one stage, the then Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy entered the scene to sort out the issue.
