Eight people were killed and three others were injured today in three separate incidents in Mathura district, police said. Two people were killed on the spot when a heap of mud caved in while they were working on a bore well here, they said. The deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Keshav and Haribabu (14), police said. In Shergargh, three people were killed after their motorcycle hit a the railing of a culvert and fell into a drain at Pagaon. Nem Chand, Asad and Shashikant drowned in the drain.
The incident took place when they were going to play Holi, police said. In Neemgaon, a 25-year-old Desharaj allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in an area under the Goverdhan police station. He took the extreme step apparently because of strained relations with his wife, police said. In another accident, two men were killed and three were injured when two motorcycles collided near the Mukharauli curve at Mangana. Sandip and Pappu were killed. The injured, including a woman, have been admitted to a hospital, police said.
