Pimpri Chinchwad: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (
PCMC) has acquired
land within the old and new city limits after negotiations with private property owners.
The move is aimed at boosting road infrastructure and other public amenities in Moshi, Chinchwad, Bhosari and Pimple Gurav.
In Moshi, the land will be used for a 9-meter and two 60-meter
roads, while in Chinchwad another 9-meter road will be laid. In Pimple Gurav, a children’s playground and a 45-meter road will be constructed. The land acquired in Bhosari has been listed for building a 12-meter road, civic officials said.
Recently, a proposal to revise the development plan (DP) for the old city was discussed in the budget document presented by municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar.
The civic administration has invited bids for preparing base maps, town planning schemes and existing land unit, officials said.
The present DP, which covers an area of 86 sqkm, was approved by the state government in 1995. The areas include Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Bhosari, Pimple Saudagar, Pimple Gurav, Rahatni and Kalewadi. The new DP will be prepared as per the provisions and regulations of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act 1966.
The new city limits include the fringe village areas. Roads, water and drainage lines will be constructed under the Amrut plan.
Meanwhile, a subway has been proposed at Govind Garden on the Nashik Phata-Wakad BRTS corridor. A private agency has been appointed for the beautification of the Nigdi-Dapodi BRTS corridor. Landscaping will be done on both sides of the corridor, besides gardening works at the median, garden department officials said.
