The stage is set for counting of votes tomorrow for the Assembly elections in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Counting will begin at 8 in the morning.
Tripura went to polls on the 18th of last month, while voting in Meghalaya and Nagaland was held on Tuesday.In Tripura, over 92 per cent voters had exercised their franchise in the elections, setting a new record.
In Nagaland, over 75 per cent voting was recorded, while in Meghalaya, 67 per cent votes were polled.
In the three North-Eastern States, elections were held for 59 seats each. The elections were countermanded in Charilam constituency in Tripura and William Nagar seat of Meghalaya.
Neiphiu Rio, former Chief Minister of Nagaland was elected unopposed from Northern Angami-2 constituency. In Tripura, the Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for counting of votes.
In Meghalaya, the Chief Electoral Officer said that webcasting will be done at all counting centres.
Meanwhile, re-polling was held today at 12 polling stations in Nagaland. The Election Commission had announced re-polling after it received complaints on polling related matters.
