The Saidapet police arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a schoolgirl after robbing her.
The girl was returning after a visiting her classmate in Mandaveli. She was waylaid near the Tamil Nadu Open University by three men, who robbed her of a mobile phone and ₹450, and attempted to sexually assault her. She managed to escape. Her father filed a complaint and the police arrested Vellai alias Govindaraj, 23, of Appavu Nagar, and Ramesh, 22, and Manoj Kumar, 20, of Thideer Nagar. They were remanded in judicial custody.
