The superintendent of police (City) P K Rai said on Thursday that action would be taken against those found creating nuisance and playing loud music without permission from the police stations concerned during the Holi festival. “This is an imperative as the students are now preparing for Board and other exams,” he added.
A police officer of Cantt police station said that while giving permission to the residential societies for celebration of Holi festival, they are making it clear to them that no one would be allowed to create nuisance for others.
Police sources said that a meeting of the police officers with the members of various societies were recently held during which they were informed of what the police expected them to do during the festival.
Anand, a class VIII student, said that as the examination is starting from Monday he would have a restricted celebration this year. “It is true that loud music which the revellers resort to during the day disturbs studies. The step police have taken is thus good for us,” he added.
