The counting of votes for the Tripura Assembly election will take place.

The Tripura assembly elections were held on February 18. According to figures by the Election Commission, Tripura recorded a voter turnout of 80 per cent.

These elections will prove to be a litmus test for the Left front's 25-year rule in Tripura. Exit poll figures suggest that BJP is likely to dethrone the CPI-M in the north-eastern state.

Here's all you need to know about the Tripura Assembly elections:

Both BJP and CPI-M are hopeful about winning the elections in Tripura.
Exit polls predicted that BJP is likely to dethrone the Left in Tripura, thus ending the Left's 25-year-old rule in the north-eastern state.
Held on February 18, polls in Tripura were held in 59 of the 60 constituencies.
Polling in one constituency was postponed due to the death of a CPI-M candidate.
According to figures of CVoter's exit poll, CPI-M will have a 44.3 per cent vote share and about 26-34 seats followed by the BJP with 42.8 per cent vote share and about 24-32 seats.
Meanwhile, Left leaders across the nation feel that Tripura's result will have far-reaching effect on national politics and also within the CPI-M.
Tripura CPI-M faced a major jolt when CPI-M leader Khagendra Jamatia passed away in Delhi yesterday. Jamatia was CPI (M) candidate from the Krishnapur constituency in the February 18 assembly election.
BJP was unable to win a single seat in the Tripura assembly elections in 2013, thus making these elections more crucial for BJP.
