Television actors share their fond memories and celebratory plans

The most memorable Holi was with my brothers when we were kids. We used to fill balloons with coloured water and then burst them on each other. It used to be a family get together and festivals are the days when you can truly get away from your busy schedule. This year, Holi celebrations are going to be a close affair and I will be spending quality time with my family and close friends. I believe in saving water, due to which I have stopped playing holi with colours as it lingers on the body and affects your skin. My skincare routine for the festival is to apply a lots of oil before going to play with colours. One of the weird events that happened in the past was when I was traveling via auto and a random stranger burst a water balloon on me. It made me mad but I laughed it off in the spirit of the festival.

I believe in enjoying a safe and eco-friendly holi. This year I have plans to celebrate Holi with my family and to gorge on lots of sweets. I strongly feel we should play an eco-friendly holi and not waste water during this festival.

This year I will celebrate Holi with my Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hai star-cast in the 90s style. We even plan to have a dance party on 90s songs on the sets and play Holi with gulal. Last year, Holi was memorable because I got to celebrate it with my friends. On Holi, I always take extensive care of my skin and apply mustard oil in my hair to safeguard it. This year I would be shooting but yes I am really excited for Holi

I love the festival of colours. Holi is a festival which is best celebrated with your school and childhood friends. It’s a lovely feeling to get soaked and run around with coloured clothes and hair. The entire celebration is incomplete without a band playing and people dancing on Bollywood numbers. We would visit our friend’s place and throw colours on everyone in the family. A special memory is, when my mother used to make Gujiya the night before the festival and coax all the members to sit together and help her make it. I am not sure if I will be going home to celebrate Holi this year but I hope I am able to.

I recall Holi when few of my friends made me try bhang and it turned out to be a hilarious experience. We all started dancing and laughing and got to know about it the very next day when my friends told me about it. It was so much fun and we still have a great laugh remembering the incident. Also, Holi reminds me of one of the songs which I shot for five days for a Punjabi film. We had to play with colours and water for all the days. I might be shooting for my show on this Holi and would like to celebrate it with my co-actor and friends. I am also going to make sweets without sugar on this and feed everyone.

When I was a little kid, I used to love playing and my Holi celebrations used to be very organic. My mother had the habit of playing with chandan and she used to grind flowers and make colours. When I grew up, I stopped celebrating as I noticed that the celebrations were becoming filthy and disrespectful towards women. The last time I played Holi was when I was nine or 10 years old. This year, we will be shooting during Holi so I plan to get chandan and celebrate with my co-actors. I also love the idea of ‘Holi ka Dehen’ because of its concept and history which depicts that good always wins over evil.
