Selling pressure drags pepper

Kochi, March 2

Selling pressure from Kerala’s Wayanad district has pushed pepper prices further down on Friday. Local processors who have bought Sri Lankan pepper were selling it mixed with the Wayanadan pepper as 550 GL material at ₹380 a kg.

Meanwhile, sellers of Sri Lankan pepper were selling it at₹370 but were not ready to part with on credit, they said. Spot prices fell by ₹300 a quintal today to ₹37,600 (ungarbled) and ₹39,600 (garbled). Export prices were at $6,300 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,550 for the US.
