Germany's preliminary World Cup squad to be named on May 15

Defending champions will announce their preliminary squad for this year's on May 15, the German federation DFB declared on Friday.

"The German national museum in will be the location where Joachim Löw announces his preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup," DFB said in a statement.

DFB also said that on May 23, the national training camp in Eppan will commence and will mark the official start of Germany's preparations.

FIFA's official deadline for the final squad, consisting in total of 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers, is on June 4.

"We want to write history once again in and that's why we'll be in the museum.

We're all hoping to be part of another successful chapter this summer," Oliver Bierhoff, German national team's official co-ordinator, said in the statement.
