 The United States has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of breaching Cold War-era treaties by developing a new generation of what it termed invincible weapons.
The comments by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders came hours after the Russian President announced that Moscow has developed a number of advanced weapons systems.
Mr Putin had said, the systems include a nuclear-powered cruise missile, which make all US capabilities aimed at undermining the Russian nuclear deterrent obsolete.
Reacting to this, Ms Sanders told reporters that US President Donald Trump understands the threats facing America and its allies and is determined to protect the homeland and preserve peace through strength. She said, the American military was fully prepared to defend the country.
The State Department expressed concern over the Russian video, along with Mr Putin's speech, which targeted the US.
