At least 10 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces at Thondapalem on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border this morning. A Grey-Hounds constable also lost his life in the gun-battle, while three other constables were injured.
Police said, the Grey-Hounds and Chhattisgarh police carried out a combing operation in the forest area after a tip-off that Maoists are holding a meeting there.
During the operation, the Maoists started firing, which was retaliated by the forces, triggering an encounter.
According to reports police are suspecting that a few top Maoist leaders, including Hari Bhushan, are among the dead.
