Olympic gold-winning swim coach Shannon Rollason leads AIS' ACT performance hub
Six-time Olympic Games gold medal-winning coach Shannon Rollason will return to Canberra to lead an ACT-based high performance program.
Swimming ACT, Swimming Australia, the ACT Academy of Sport and Swimming NSW have combined to establish the ACT performance hub, with Rollason to take the reins on April 23.
Rollason loomed as the ideal candidate for the job having spent six years as head coach at the AIS, before leading international programs in Denmark.
"I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences with coaches and swimmers in the ACT and surrounding regional areas and to develop the Hub program," Rollason said.
"It's exciting to be part of this new initiative."
Swimming NSW chief executive Mark Heathcote says the non-residential program will help to fast track the development of Australian swimmers on the world stage.
"The ACT performance hub is a new concept for Swimming NSW and its partners to help provide a high-performance daily training environment for the swimmers of the ACT and regional NSW," Heathcote said.
"To have a coach of the calibre of Shannon heading up the program is a fantastic result for local swimmers and coaches."
