Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to pay two-day visit to Nepal from 5 March; will meet his counterpart KP Oli

Kathmandu: Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will commence a two-day visit to Nepal on 5 March, the Nepal prime minister's Secretriat said on Friday.

The Pakistani prime minister is arriving in Kathmandu to congratulate Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on his appointment again as the prime minister of the Himalayan nation.

A Pakistani Embassy source, however, said though they are expecting Abbasi's visit they are yet to receive any confirmation in this regard.

Abbasi will also hold meetings with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and high-level Nepal officers during the visit.

It will the first high-level visit to the country by a foreign dignitary after Oli was sworn in as the 41st prime minister of Nepal on 15 February. The last such visit was by the then Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the 18th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit in Kathmandu in November 2014.
