European OTC day-ahead power mixed, France down, Germany up New Delhi: European spot wholesale power prices were mixed on Thursday, French prices falling on rapidly diminishing demand and those in Germany rising on anticipated wind power declines that hit supply.

* French baseload power for Friday delivery was off 9.9 percent at 73 euros ($89.10) a megawatt hour (MWh).

* The equivalent German contract was up 27.3 percent at 41.5 euros, at a big discount to France because of the country has had record demand during the cold weather due to its electric heating needs.

* Thomson Reuters data shows French daily demand will likely drop 2.9 gigawatts (GW) to Friday to stand at an expected 76 GW that day. Indications for next week are at around 66.7 GW.

* German wind power volumes so far seen falling to 16.3 GW Friday from 22.8 GW and range between 4.6-10.4 GW next week. ($1 = 0.8193 euros) (Reporting by Vera Eckert, editing by Jane Merriman)
