NEW DELHI: Walmart India has taken a former employee to court for allegedly stealing “sensitive, confidential and proprietary information.”

The company accused former deputy general manager of merchandising Meenakshi Sharma of wrongful possession of data pertaining to members of Walmart’s Best Price stores, a wholesale chain that has kiranas, hotels, restaurants and other businesses as members, a person familiar with the case said.

Sharma quit Walmart in August and joined Siam Makro of Thailand, which is investing Rs 1,000 crore to establish a chain of cash-and-carry outlets in India. Shohit Chaudhary, the lawyer representing Sharma, declined to comment.

The Delhi High Court has set the next date of hearing for March 8.
