Can This 800 HP Escalade Outrun A Stock Camaro ZL1 1LE?

We’ve been here hundreds of times. Oh look, it’s a souped up SUV versus a genuine sports car, thinking it can keep up with the latter. Most of the times, it ends up in tears for the SUV, doesn’t it?

Well, let’s hold our horses a bit on this particular occasion. Sure, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE is a powerhouse, with 650 horses and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque , but its opponent here looks really scary on paper.

This Cadillac Escalade though is fitted with Hennessey’s HPE800 tune, which cranks things up to 805 horses and 827 lb-ft (1,121 Nm) of torque in supercharged fashion. That’s an extraordinary amount of muscle, even for a vehicle this heavy.

Now you’re probably thinking that we’re building up the Escalade HPE800 only to watch it fail spectacularly on the drag strip.

Well, if the two raced on a track with twisty bits in-between straights, the Caddy would get embarrassed. However, this was a straight line battle, so you might be surprised by how things turned out.

This Escalade can outrun MANY car models, including Mercedes, anything Toyota or Honda (maybe save the NSX), Land Rover, etc.

    That Cadillac is sick fast!!!

No i won’t be surprised how things turn out because any car that was modified to go fast in a straight line will win out against cars that were deigned for track racing. It’s a no brainier. I’d take the Camaro despite issues with outward visibility. That Caddy is just an ugly gorilla and the HPE800 kit doesn’t make up for it.

I really don’t like Escalades but would so rock that and put to shame so many “Fast and Furious” types.
