'In 38 cases, Dalit grooms stopped from riding horse'

JAIPUR: Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said that in last three years there were 38 incidents of Dalit grooms were stopped from riding horse for marriage was reported in the state.
He said it while intervening on discussion on atrocities against Dalits during Zero Hour.

He said, in 28 such cases, the accused were arrested and charge-sheets were filed in the court while in six cases final report has been filed.

Replying to a question he said in the last three years 476 missing children and 8056 kidnapping cases of children. In the case of women, 21, 869 missing cases have been reported while the kidnapping cases have been 6683.

He said, the police had a high success rate in the recovery of missing children and women.

He claimed that a total of 7,995 cases of missing/kidnapping cases of children and 24777 cases of women in the same category have been solved. He said 537 cases of children and 3775 cases of women in the missing and kidnapping cases are being followed up.

He said police have been able to solve 90% of missing children cases and nodal officers have been deputed at district levels to attend to these cases on a priority basis.


Crimes against women have shown a marked decline in the last three years, claimed home minister Gulab Chand Kataria in the assembly on Wednesday.


He said heinous crimes like murder and rape was 348 in 2014 which has come down to 318 in 2015 and after a marginal rise to 327 in 2016 had dropped to 282 in last year.


He said even crimes against women belong to the SC/ST has also come down significantly.
