Police-CRPF team stop five militia members near border

Five Maoist militia members were apprehended along with a consignment of medicines worth around ₹ 5000, allegedly meant for Maoists, at Korakatpadu in Charla mandal near Telangana-Chhattisgarh border on Wednesday morning, police said.

The consignment contained 25 saline bottles and 20 intravenous infusion sets besides tablets for fever and gastritis, among other medicines.

Local police along with the CRPF personnel nabbed the five — identified as Madivi Mangaiah, 26, Kudam Nangaiah, 30, Madakam Deva, 21, Sodi Devaiah, 29, and Sodi Mukaiah, 25, all belonging to Korakatpadu in Charla mandal — at Korakatpadu cross roads while they carrying medicine boxes to cross the state border in the early hours of the day. The militia members had bought the medicines from a shop in Bhadrachalam as directed by some Maoist leaders based in the Dandakaranya forest region of adjoining Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, the police said.
