Man impaled on fence after ladder fall at Bellevue Hill

A man was impaled in the leg after he fell from a ladder onto a spiked fence in Sydney's eastern suburbs on Thursday.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics responded to reports the man had fallen from a ladder and suffered a penetrating wound to his lower leg at Bellevue Hill about 3.10pm.

Five paramedic units went to the scene.

The spokesman said the man, 36, was conscious and breathing. He was given pain relief.

Paramedics and police rescue squad members released the man before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital shortly before 5pm.

It is understood emergency services used a harness to support the patient while he was dislodged from the fence.

A specialist medical team provided extra support at the scene and went to hospital with the man.
