The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked Archana Bhargava, former Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the United Bank of India, for allegedly acquiring assets worth ₹3.64 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The FIR is an offshoot of a case registered in 2016 in which the CBI had conducted searches at her residence and on the premises of Rank Mercantile Private Limited in Delhi, Noida and Mumbai. The CBI alleged that Ms. Bhargava acquired the said assets in her and her family’s name from April 2004 till the end of her tenure on February 20, 2014.
