Bollywood is abstaining from any kind of Holi celebration this year owing to the untimely demise of veteran actress Sridevi.
The Green Acres housing society complex at Lokhandwala area of Andheri, where Sridevi stayed with her filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters, have cancelled their Holi celebration.
"There would be no music, rain dance, coloured water exchanges or the usual community lunch," reads a notice inside the Green Acres Cooperative Housing Society Ltd.
Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi too had cancelled the Holi function at their place. "Our Holi party at Janki Kutir stands cancelled on 2nd March in the wake of Sridevi's passing away," Azmi tweeted.
Bollywood showman late Raj Kapoor introduced the culture of organising grand Holi parties in the film industry and the fraternity has been following it till date. Amitabh Bachchan, Ekta Kapoor and Shabana Azmi are among those who usually host grand Holi events.
"Get back .. get back .. just get back .. to love," Bachchan had tweeted expressing shocking over the death of Sridevi, with whom he had done four films. The Big B was last seen with Sridevi in English Vinglish in 2012, which was her comeback film after 15 years.
