P. Pandian, a personal security officer of DMK president and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, has been placed under suspension a day before his retirement from service.
Mr. Pandian has been working with two other police personnel — C. Vinothan and C. Ganesan — as personal security officers of the former CM since 2006.
The DVAC had booked a case against the personal security officers for corruption. The case is that the trio, using their influence as PSOs to the former Chief Minister, got plots in Mogappair under the Government Discretionary Quota in 2008.
Even before getting the provisional allotment orders, they entered into a joint venture agreement with private parties, which was against the norms, and had settled dues to the TNHB from the money obtained from the agreement.
Following recommendation from the Director-General of Police, Home Secretary Niranjan Mardi issued orders for the suspension of Pandian.
