If you are looking for a place to enhance your skills in art, music, theatre, sports, acting your search could end at the Olnet Production House at Sangolda. The House was launched by a company with the same name, registered in 2015, with the objective of gathering young people to showcase their talent.

The old heritage house is almost 140 years old that was refurnished by the members of the production house – including the painting and decoration work, lights, leveling the ground outside. The members include students and teachers, but the main pillars are students of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa – president, Netwin Antao; secretary, Natasha Pereira and treasurer, Cedrick D’Cunha.

The idea of establishing a production house was Netwin’s; he wanted to form a network and bring out hidden talents among children, youth and adults, conducting various activities. Natasha says: “We started it in an old heritage house because we wanted to work on it and make it creative in keeping with the adage ‘old is gold’”.

Speaking about the response they expect, Natasha says: “Since it has just begun, our expectations are high because we have put in a lot of hardwork and we have already got good responses from various people.” She adds that all we need is everyone’s support and encouragement.

The classes like acting, singing, dancing, art, music will be conducted here for several age groups, apart from conducting several workshops. The art classes are open to children above the age of four; the dance classes in all styles and Zumba in the mornings and evenings; while music classes will cover several western instruments. Theatre classes will be in English, Konkani and Hindi, in fact, the production house has been staging a tiatr every year, since inception. Natasha adds: “Classes will be taken by professionals in various batches and at different timings so basically the house will be operational for the entire day. Also, we are planning of staging an annual event and showcase the talents of the individuals.”

She also mentions they want to reach out to many people and help them gain confidence, motivate them; hoping that someday they will be professionals. One can become a member of Olnet if he/she has an interest in the various arts and are dedicated and hardworking.
