Local school students present models on conservation of water, energy

The future of the country lies with the children and schools are playing a huge role in bridging the gap between Bharat and India, said National Information Officer for India and Bhutan, United Nations, Rajiv Chandran here on Thursday.

The visiting UN officer was impressed with a science expo presented by students of Loyola Telugu Medium School, Nallapadu.

“The creativity shown by these children are no way inferior to the ideas of students of Delhi and these students are our future leaders,” Mr. Chandran said.

He said that the United Nations had been working with schools and colleges; bringing people, change agents together in tune with sustainable development goals to be achieved by the year 2030.

The students presented several models on conservation of water, energy. A student made a paste of neem leaves and cow dung which if lighted, could be an effective mosquito repellent.

He inaugurated the ‘Reach to Teach’ programme in which volunteers would be interacting with the students.

National Science Day was celebrated for three days at Loyola Public School here. Students participated in Essay Writing, Elocution, Drawing and Painting, Science Quiz, and Science spell bee.

The school principal Uvari Tony spoke.

Founders of Yes We can organization and DEEDS, Stephen Anurag and Vijay Vardhan respectively were present.
