Young scientists from the government schools falling in the age group of 10 to 15 years showcased their scientific outlook through presenting rich innovative models at a State-level competition organized under Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE-MANAK) scheme here on Wednesday at Zila School.

Covering almost every domain, from an affordable solar air cooler model to the concept of smart over-bridge design for safeguarding the lives of public during high tide and floods, over 127 unique models selected from different districts of Jharkhand were displayed illustrating the creativity of students. A range of nearly 12 to 13 selected creative models having a few unique components will compete at the national level competition.

Acknowledging the future innovations, the Department of School Education and Literacy will soon prepare a coffee table book having the details of every such candidates from 2010 onward who participated in the INSPIRE national level competition representing Jharkhand.

According to officials, the step is to encourage all students having inventive thoughts. Earlier, the attempts of several candidates who through their hard work and creative imagination though had brought laurel to the State but their contribution by far was hardly recognized, compelling them to switch over to some other fields.

“A committee will be constituted soon to promote and recognize the ideas presented by the students. If all go well, the department will compile the details of all such candidates who have participated at the national level contest of INSPIRE award. The coffee table book will not just scribble their success stories and journey but will help them in getting support for corporate firms and government,” said Principal Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, AP Singh.

Further elaborating on the coffee table book idea, Singh said, “The compilation of details will help in involving more number of students both from government schools and private cradles in such competitions. Besides, it can also assist in resolving patent issues, if any such problem arises. Attempts can be also made for reserving some seats for all such talented children in the technical institutions while constantly guiding them in their respective scientific ventures.”

The committee that will be formed to recognize national level participants of INSPIRE award scheme will have government officials, academicians and a few personnel from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of different companies to further nurture these talented kids’ vision.

Education Minister Dr. Neera Yadav too appeared happy with the idea of recognizing such children (Former National Level INSPIRE participants) and patted the officials for bringing in the proposal of recognizing the aspirations of budding scientists through compiling their success stories which will further encourage thousands of students across the State to develop scientific temperament for expansion of science and technology.

The Minister, on the occasion, further added that endeavor must be made by parents as well as teachers constantly to explain children even small things in a scientific way for building up a critical human resource pool which will ultimately expand the base of the research and development (R&D).
