Running order

Dykes on Bikes.

The parade begins with the roar of about 240 Dykes on Bikes, marking the 30th year Australia's longest running female-identified motorcycle club has participated. Followed by other gay male motorcycle clubs.

First Nations – "Revolution"

The Aboriginal LGTBQI float will be led by a historical Aboriginal flag as well as the Captain Cook costume that was worn by the late Malcolm Cole on the 1988 Bicentennial float 30 years ago.

Original parade participants are reuniting 40 years since they marched down Oxford Street at a time when homosexuality was still a criminal act. They will march or travel in VIP transport.

"The Evolutionary Dinner Party"

Key artists, designers and characters who have created Mardi Gras costumes and characters over 40 years will be celebrated.

The Order of Perpetual Indulgence – Sydney House "Still Here, Still Queer"

Featuring the order of Sydney-based gay male nuns and lesbian monks in gay, lesbian and other communities, who once delivered Fred Nile's head on a platter for the parade.

Several floats will celebrate the first year marriage equality is legal in Australia.
