Promising talent

Niveditha Sankar, a student of Srekala Bharat, has the potential no doubt but has to work more to achieve intensity, which in turn result in clean lines. This can happen when there is internalisation. .

Niveditha began her performance with an Anjali and followed it up with Shadakshara Kauthuvam, which revealed the potential the artist possesses. Varnam is the litmus test for a beginner.

Choreographically, ‘Kanna Avalaanen’ in Khambodi was a fine piece, and the execution was done with sincerity and dedication.

These two qualities are mandatory but it needs more to lift a presentation to a sublime level.

A lovely ‘Ramanukku Mannan Mudi,’ (Hindolam), ‘Aduvum Solluval’ and a tillana in Dhanashri, completed the performance, which had an excellent orchestra with Srekala Bharath leading on the nattuvangam.

Chitrambari was on the vocal (whose voice is always such a pleasure to listen to), Dhananjayan on the mridangam and Shikamani on the violin.
