Tata and Boeing Aerospace limited has rolled out its state of the art production facility at Adibhatla on the outskirts of Hyderabad Thursday morning in the presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman.
The facility is the joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems and Boeing’s first equity joint venture in India.
Set up in over 14000 square meters, the joint venture will co-produce Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopter fuselages and other aerostructures, as well as pursue integrated systems in aerospace.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defence Minister congratulated the TATA and Boeing for taking the bold step towards - Make in India- and making the substantial investment in the Defence space.
The Minister further said the joint venture is a significant step in developing India’s capabilities for aerospace and defence manufacturing and becoming a global exporter.
Telangana IT minister Taraka Ramarao and several public representatives were also present.
According to an official release, the Hyderabad production facility will eventually be the sole producer of AH-64 fuselages globally.
The Apache has been flown or selected for acquisition by the United States and 15 other nations, including India.
