Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) welcomes Virgin Australia’s announcement of a new non-stop Sydney to Hong Kong service, commencing daily from mid 2018 (subject to necessary approvals), further enhancing accessibility for leisure and business travellers to Asia’s cosmopolitan hub.
HKTB Regional Director – Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Andrew Clark said Virgin Australia’s exciting news yesterday clearly demonstrates the current strength of Asia and will no doubt connect more Australian visitors to Hong Kong and beyond.
“This latest addition to Virgin Australia’s network is very positive news for the HKTB and will provide greater choice and competition for Australian consumers travelling to Hong Kong,” Mr. Clark said.
“The HKTB will work with Virgin Australia to enhance the exposure of Hong Kong, highlighting the diversity and experiences the destination offers to encourage Aussie travellers to choose Hong Kong as their next holiday destination, or extend their stop-over to get a taste of the city and beyond.”
“We look forward to collaborating with Virgin Australia to ensure this route is successful,” he said.
Capacity to China has continued to grow at a steady rate throughout 2017-2018. Virgin Australia announced the expansion of their international footprint into Greater China in July 2017 with the introduction of services between Hong Kong and Melbourne – providing five return services per week between the two cities, using dual aisle Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
