BJP to take out padayatra to ‘Save Baby Hills’

more-in

Accusing the district administration of not initiating measures to prevent alleged illegal stone quarrying activities in Baby Hills, a deemed forest area near Pandavapura, the BJP on Thursday threatened to launch a protest to ‘Save Baby Hills’.

Addressing presspersons, the BJP Raitha Morcha leaders said the padayatra would be taken out from Baby Hills to the office of Deputy Commissioner.

A portion of Baby Hills (survey no. 1) belonged to the erstwhile Mysuru royal family, and the authorities concerned should issue khata in the name of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, they demanded.

According to them, some influential persons have been precariously looting natural resources there for several years, by establishing illegal stone quarrying units.

Ms. Wadiyar had recently written to the State government seeking khata of certain areas attached to Baby Betta land.
