Ashwin ruled out of Deodhar Trophy

New Delhi,

A day after being named as the captain of India ‘A’ team for the upcoming Deodhar Trophy, star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the tourney after an injury.

According to a BCCI statement, Ashwin has a niggling issue and the board’s medical team has advised him rest for a week.

In the absence of the 31-year-old, the selectors have included slow left-arm orthodox bowler Shahbaz Nadeem in the India ‘A’ side while Ankit Bawne has been named as captain of the side.

Also, Akshdeep Nath has been tranferred to India B squad to facilitate the change, the BCCI’s statement said further.In the upcoming tournament, scheduled to be held in Dharamsala between March 4-8,Shreyas Iyer will lead the India ‘B’ team while the third team will be Vijay Hazare champions Karnataka, which will be captained by Karun Nair.
