Select edible oil prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on emergence of buying by vanspati millers amid a firm trend overseas. Linseed oil in the non-edible section, also traded higher on pick up in demand from consuming industries. Traders said fresh buying by vanaspati millers and a firm trend overseas, mainly led to rise in select edible oil prices. Globally, the benchmark palm oil contract for May delivery was up 0.1 percent at 2,542 ringgit (USD 650.79) a tonne on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. In the edible section, palmolein (RBD) and palmolei(Kandla) oils rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,500 and Rs 6,550 per quintal respectively. Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oil also traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 7,800 and Rs 7,400 per quintal, respectively. Crude palm oil (ex-kandla) too edged up by Rs 50 to Rs 5,350 per quintal. Among non-edible, linseed oil enquired higher by Rs 50 to Rs 9,150 per quintal.
