I would love to rap in Marathi: Raftaar
Absolutely a livewire on stage, Dilin Nair better known as Raftaar impresses you with his cool and calm demeanour when you meet him post his performance. On his visit to the city, Raftaar speaks about Nagpur, desire to rap in Marathi and more… Sipping water, he said, “It has ginger, lemon grass, mulethi and cinnamon. I need this post every show as we put in a lot of energy on stage. When people invite you, they wish to see the best of you. Initially, I used to be like a monkey on stage, but with age, maturity comes. I try to stay calm before and after the shows.” He added, “I have back-to-back shows after which I’m heading for Roadies’ journey. So, I try to save all my energy and showcase it in the studio or in live shows. People see a totally different side of me on stage. It’s all about channelising your energy well.”

Coming to Nagpur for the second time, Raftaar confessed that the love he has received here has grown ten folds compared to last time. “It was amazing to watch a sea of people attending my show; this is what I dreamt of. This is what gives me confidence that I’m on the right track,” he said.

The singer’s popularity among the youth is no secret, so what is his advice to the youngsters who want to make it big as a rapper? To this, he said, “I just want to say that keep improving, stay focused and work hard. However, I can’t tell these upcoming rappers to refrain from using foul language, though all my songs are without any cuss words. I would rather tell the audience to not support the songs that have foul language. If they stop listening to such songs, youngsters will also avoid using foul language.”

All Black singer is a Malayali yet he raps in Punjabi with perfection. So, will we ever see him rapping in Marathi too? He replied, “Of course! I like to rap and language is not a barrier for me. I would love to rap in Marathi someday but somebody will have to help me write the song. I’m game for it.”
