CBI arrests Karti Chidambaram in INX media money laundering case |

The CBI has arrested Karti Chidambaram, son of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, for not cooperating in the investigation of the INX media money laundering case.
Karti was taken into custody at the Chennai airport this morning immediately after he arrived from London. He will be taken to Delhi later in the day, sources said.
An FIR filed by the CBI on May 15 last year had alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of 305 crore rupees in 2007 when P Chidambaram was the Union finance minister. It is alleged that Karti had received a bribe of 10 lakh in the case.
Enforcement Directorate has also registered a money laundering case against him.
On Tuesday, a Delhi court had sent Karti’s chartered accountant S Bhaskararaman to 14-day judicial custody in the INX Media money laundering case.
Special judge NK Malhotra sent the CA to Tihar Jail after he was produced from the custody of the ED. Bhaskararaman was arrested from a five-star hotel in Delhi on February 16.
