Land redistribution is fair, but farmers must have peace of mind

28 February 2018, 12:15

In a way, I understand the EFF, but they should do so in a manner which gives the present farmers peace of mind.

The ANC goverment is presently sitting with over 4000 farms already bought, but not being allocated. There ia also large swathes of government-owned land lying fallow and not given to serious black farmers. And not like the failed Vrede dairy, The Glen tea plantation, some poultry and pig farms, farms which were previously highly productive and now are disasters.

Also, all the land "owned" by tribal chiefs and the Zulu king must come under the same spotlight. The most important aspect in my view, is WHY, do they only want farms which are highly profitable (which will threaten our food security)? They must receive land yes, no problem, but then they must (as the white farmers did) develop it to profitability.

Taking away WORKING farms is nothing short of THEFT.
