New Delhi:  Indrani Mukerjea, who once owned INX Media, the television company at the heart of the kickbacks allegations against Karti Chidambaram, has made a series of statements that gave ammunition to the CBI in the case.

Ms Mukerjea, who is in jail on charges of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, also allegedly said she had made a payment of 700,000 dollars following demands for "illegal gratification".

Karti Chidambaram, who was arrested this morning, is accused of receiving kickbacks in 2007 to clear foreign investment worth around Rs. 300 crore INX Media, using the influence of his father, who was then the Union finance minister. At the time, the company was owned by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
