MILLBRAE, Calif., Feb. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of their long-standing commitment to supporting local communities, Gateway at Millbrae Station developer, Republic Urban Properties, has committed $2 million to the re-building of the Millbrae Community Center. The donation is part of a proposed development agreement being negotiated with the City of Millbrae.
In 2016, the Millbrae Community Center was destroyed in a four-alarm fire. Since then, the community has been forced to live without the vital community hub that for so many years had become a home away from home for so many Millbrae residents.
"From the moment we heard about the tragedy, we have supported efforts to assist those impacted by the loss of the community center," said Michael Van Every, Chief Executive Officer/President, Republic Urban Properties. "The $2 million Millbrae community benefit we are committing will go towards accelerating the re-building in order to give residents their beloved community center back as soon as possible."
In 2016, immediately after the fire, Republic Urban contributed $30,000 to the Millbrae Community Center Fund in order to assist community members impacted by the loss of the building.
